Beaches

Punta Bandera - Luquillo Beach
Luquillo is home to many wonderful beaches, but this one is our favorite spot. It's not usually as busy and feels more secluded despite being near the town. The water is usually calm and warm. Street parking is available nearby but there are no facilities. Bring your umbrella, chairs and a cooler stocked with food & drink.

Caracas Beach - Vieques
Playa Caracas is located on the south side of Vieques Island, nestled in a lovely cove. You will find a large white sand beach, gazebos and grills. But there are no bathroom facilities or stores nearby so bring snacks and drinks if you plan on spending the day here. Don't be surprised to see local horses wandering the area as well. There is a parking lot next to the beach.

Atlantic Beach - Condado
Atlantic Beach is a hot spot especially on the weekends and holidays. Popular with families, friends and the LGBT community. There are usually vendors selling snacks, drinks or renting chairs and umbrellas. Parking in the area can be hard to find but there are some lots available for a fee within a few blocks. Expect a high energy vibe and music here! Be aware of the water conditions here. Rip currents are known to be strong.

Ocean Park Beach - San Juan
Ocean Park is the area in between Condado and Isla Verde. It's a great spot to relax, but there are no facilities or shores nearby. There is a park across the street and you will sometimes find food vendors here. Peter loves it here!

Medio Mundo Beach - Ceiba
This is a hidden gem! It's a short hike from Playa Los Machos through the brush (but there is a clear path). It is generally very quiet as it is secluded. Park at Playa Los Machos and walk over from the south end of the parking area. There are restrooms at Playa Los Machos but no other amenities.

Playa Los Machos - Ceiba
This beach in Ceiba is generally under appreciated. There is plenty of parking and public restrooms. This is not a sandy beach, but there are gazebos available and it's very picturesque.

Cayo Icacos - Fajardo
Icacos is a small, uninhabited, island located off the coast of Fajardo. The waters and beach are pristine. You can only get here by chartering a boat or taking a tour that stops here. It is a protected area so you won't find any facilities and please do not remove anything from the island. It is a wonderful spot and I highly recommend a Catamaran tour to Icacos during your stay.

Playa Boquerón
Playa Boquerón is a public beach located next to the charming town of Boquerón in Cabo Rojo on the southwest corner of the island. It is a large beach with a large parking lot (paid). You can easily walk over to the boardwalk for food, drink and more. We try to get here several times a year. It can be very busy on holidays and it is a huge party during Gay Pride Boquerón in June!
